At Employment Law Services (ELS) LTD, we are proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, a national pledge that recognises the sacrifices made by the men and women of the UK’s Armed Forces and their families. Our commitment ensures that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces—and those who support them—are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is an enduring promise between the people of the United Kingdom, His Majesty’s Government, and all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown, and their families. It ensures that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in accessing public or commercial services due to their military service, and that special consideration is given in appropriate cases, especially for the injured and bereaved.

By upholding this Covenant, we recognise the immense value and contributions of serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadet force volunteers, and military families—both in our business and across society.

Our Commitment to the Armed Forces Community

At ELS, we go beyond words. We take real, meaningful action to honour our Covenant pledge and support the Armed Forces Community in a number of practical ways:

Reservist Support

  • We actively support employees who serve as Reservists in the Armed Forces.
  • We provide an additional 10 days of paid annual leave to enable them to meet their annual training commitments.
  • Our internal policies reflect and promote a positive and supportive environment for Reservists.

Public Recognition & Advocacy

  • We actively support and promote key Armed Forces events including:
  • Armed Forces Day/Week
  • Remembrance Day and the Poppy Appeal
  • Other ceremonial and commemorative events
  • We proudly display our support through our website, social media, supply chain, and internal communications, helping to raise awareness of the Covenant and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

Veterans and Service Leavers

  • We engage with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to offer free employment-related advice and support to those leaving the Armed Forces.
  • We offer guaranteed interview schemesmentoring, and work placement opportunities to help veterans transition successfully into civilian careers.

Cadet Force Support

  • We promote and support volunteering within the Cadet Forces.
  • We offer additional paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to fulfil training and leadership responsibilities.
  • We provide direct investment in equipment and infrastructure to support our local cadet detachment and enhance cadet training experiences.
  • We offer insight days to older cadets seeking apprenticeship or higher education pathways.

Sharing and Improving Our Support

We are committed to transparency and welcome feedback from members of the Armed Forces Community and the wider public. If you have suggestions on how we can improve our support or if you would like to learn more about our Armed Forces initiatives, we’d love to hear from you.
